I won’t write about the ending of this film.
The ending tears at the viewer’s heart,
and nothing can fill the space it leaves behind.
Even so—whether you are involved with people with disabilities or not—
I want everyone to see this film.
I cannot accept its ending.
I don’t have the courage to watch it a second time.
This movie has the power to strike your heart like a blunt weapon,
whether that power feels like justice, love, or disappointment.
“There must have been another choice.”
That thought alone settles heavily in the heart—
that is “Kuchizuke.”
The ending tears at the heart of anyone who watches it.
And yet, I truly hope you will see it.
I hope it helps, even just a little,
to deepen your understanding of people with disabilities, their families,
and those around them.
